I hope you and your family enjoyed a fun and restful Thanksgiving holiday — one that I hope was carefully catered by the animal agriculture community that works tirelessly to bring meat, poultry, dairy and eggs to tables around the world all year long.

Following Thanksgiving, it’s officially the holiday shopping and giving season, as indicated by the inbox full of marketing emails that it took me way too long to clear out this morning. With Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday in the rearview, today — Tuesday, November 30^th — is Giving Tuesday.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement, unleashing the power of radical generosity to transform communities and the world. Many nonprofits and charitable organizations take advantage of this movement each year to seek support for their important work. There are many worthy organizations in food and agriculture that you might consider supporting today, including Feeding America, Heifer International, The National FFA Organization and 4-H. This is by no means an inclusive list and I encourage you to seek out other local and national organizations that share your values to support.

I have to take the opportunity to share that the Animal Agriculture Alliance is also participating in Giving Tuesday. If you enjoy reading my pieces here, I implore you to consider supporting the Alliance today. As I share here every other week, extreme animal rights groups are all too eager to take advantage of ongoing challenges to the supply chain and food community. One group recently protested outside of a processing plant and brazenly stated that their goal was to “cause supply chain disruptions.” Animal rights extremists are misleading consumers about how livestock and poultry are raised and trying to disrupt supply chains even more, all in an attempt to further their agenda and take away your ability to provide safe, nutritious food to families and consumers’ ability to choose what they put on their plates.

By supporting the Alliance on Giving Tuesday, you are standing up for animal agriculture and its value to society. Your support helps make sure we are here when you need us and allows us to continue our work to safeguard the future of animal agriculture and bring you the latest updates on trends in activism.
