It’s been a Rocky Halloween Horror nightmare worldwide since 2020 because of a trick named COVID-19.

This 0.125-micron virus has made us all resemble masked Heckles and Jeckles at restaurants, churches and work. Everywhere one ventures, we see reflections of ourselves.

So is it worth it? Are masks effective against COVID-19?

Yes. Crucial too, is washing your hands with soap and water while karaoke-ing “Happy days are here again” — thrice over —followed by a sanitizer. Effective also is eschewing crowds when Homo sapiens are within your subjective diameter of six feet or less.

In August 2021, the CDC announced the most common way that COVID-19 spreads is by hitching a ride on an infected fluid airborne particle or droplets via coughs and sneezes. The smallest droplets or aerosolized particles are so microscopic that they can remain suspended in the air from minutes to hours.

I’m recovering from neck cancer surgery, and as part of my treatment my body was saturated five days a week with powerful IV chemicals paired with Star Trek-like laser radiation in 2020 and 2021. Suddenly my immune system was severely compromised. Bed-bound with my stalwart teacup chihuahua, Poco, we went into a cocoon as doctors had instructed; don a mask home and away!

Perhaps like you, I lost some near and dear to COVID-19. It’s heartbreaking. This pandemic isn't Noah’s 40 days and 40 nights: It’s time-proven Darwinism at its worst. I’m living today because of dogmatic faith in my God, my family, my friends and karma — and I read Dr. Norman Vincent Peale’s classic, “The Power of Positive Thinking.”

My condolences if you lost some to COVID-19. I get it. It damages your gut's delicate biota. Humbling to the nth degree — all brought front and center by a persistently mutating virus straight out of a noir Edgar Allen Poe novel (see also: delta, omicron).

It’s also been enlightening. OSHA has been involved with rule-making regarding COVID-19 from the get-go. When OSHA was John Hancocked into law by Congress and President Nixon, the new federal agency’s intent was to protect our nation's employees by “preventing injuries/illnesses.” Federal OSHA’s prerequisite requirements involving COVID-19 are:

Personal Protective Equipment (29 CFR 1910 s.p. 1)
The (Mighty) General Duty Clause of 1970 (Section 5(A)(1))
Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030)
Right to Know (chemicals)
Record Keeping (29 CFR 1910) & OSHA 300 Log (29 CFR Part 1904)

So, wear thou mask. Wash and sanitize thou hands 24/7 and if you want, get thou vaccinated or rely on the less-potent tablets. Be respectful of yourself, your family, your friends and others, and distance yourself.
